A virtual feast of visual elements, as one eye circles around the bay. The wave, rocks, clouds, coconut palms and the erupting volcano cloud on the horizon, all inviting you to take a little journey on the Big Island.
A very special Hawaiian Sunset on the Kona Coast of Hawaii Island. With so many great elements and an intriguing composition that have made this my most popular sunset image. I really like the highlights on the water and the coastal lava rocks. I was trilled the moment I pressed the shutter on my camera.
Was visiting Maui for a few days and the last night went down to Big Beach in Makena. I’m having a love affair with this area and beach recently, it’s just a stunning place.
Generally, I've used a different type of look than this image with longer exposures and streaming water movement. I recently started working on freezing the incoming water with a faster shutter speed. This capture is exactly what I was looking for and more. I like how the foam is sweeping the beach like a loofah. The reflection of the foam lip also adds a nice touch of extra dimension. The sunset is complicated with lots of texture. That’s Kahoolawe to the left and the Molokini Crater in the center.
