As the most isolated population center on the earth, Hawai'i gives us an opportunity to travel past the earth and into the heavens. Exploring and documenting the night sky is an unparalleld experience.

There are many kinds of rainbows. Na Po Mokole, is seen only by a few. It is the Spirit rainbow. The rainbow that holds our ancestors. When it is seen it is a great blessing from all our family who have gone out of flesh. Many healings take place at this time, for our spirit family knows our needs and tries to help us. They give us knowledge and rekindle the light when it is weak. It is a time of unity, a time for family—a reawakening or renewal for those in body. There is no greater blessing on earth than the blessing of the Night Rainbow.
The west side of Hawai'i Island boasts some of the most beautiful evening skies, which are complimented further by the seas that reflect and amplify the colors while giving movement to this light show.
After a night of shooting the lava ocean entry, I switched to wide angle to capture this awesome sunrise image. Features include the pastel plune and sky, wave breaking, and the streaming red hot lava flowing into the ocean
